Worcester Railers HC re-sign former Merrimack Warrior Steven Jandric for 2022-23 season

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Worcester Railers Hockey Club (@RailersHC), proud ECHL Affiliate (@ECHL) of the New York Islanders (@NY Islanders), and General Manager and Head Coach Jordan Lavallee-Smotherman announced today that the club has re – signed striker Steven Jandric to an ECHL contract for the 2022-23 season.

Jandric, 25, joins the Railers after being late signed by the side in the 2021-22 season. With Worcester last year, Jandric scored eight points (4G, 4A) in 15 games played. He joined the club from Merrimack College with teammate Max Newton at the end of their college season. The Prince George, BC native was called up to play two games with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League last April and had one point (1G, 0A) with the team.

“Steve came to us last season and showed a lot of promise on a professional level,” Lavallee-Smotherman said. “We’re excited to see what he can do with his experience from last season and a full off-season of professional hockey preparation.”

Before playing professional hockey, the 6-foot-0, 201-pound forward split his college career between three schools, playing for the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, the University of Denver and the Merrimack. Middle School. In three years with Alaska-Fairbanks from 2017 to 2020, Jandric scored 80 points (26G, 54A) in 107 games with the Nanooks. He then transferred to the University of Denver for the 2020-21 season where he recorded six points (1G, 5A) in 20 games played. Jandric then traveled to the Bay State and reunited with former Alaska-Fairbanks teammate Max Newton for the 2021-22 season at Merrimack College. With the Warriors, he will score 28 points (8G, 20A) in 34 games played.

The Railers have announced 14 officially signed players for the 2022-23 season as Steven Jandric joins Philip Beaulieu, Chris Ordoobadi, Quinn Ryan, Zack Bross, Brian Rigali, Jack Quinlivan, Blake Christensen, Brent Beaudoin, Jared Brandt, Noah Delmas, Nolan Vesey, Myles McGurty and Liam Coughlin as 14 signatories. Further announcements are expected in the coming weeks.
