Visitor center staff work hard for ‘Smithville 78957’ magazine

The Smithville Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center is hard at work on the new “Smithville 78957” magazine which will be released in October. This third edition of the magazine will focus on the arts, accommodation properties, shopping, dining and more as we continue to reach out to tourists interested in having a fun weekend or vacation in family in Smithville. If you are interested in purchasing an ad, contact Debbie Denny with questions at: 512-844-3930 or call us the room at 512-237-2313.

The chamber sponsored a Lunch & Learn course last week: “Upping Your Social Media Game” with Ann Marie Nguyen. We learned how to get more interaction on social media by learning how to create creative Instagram and Facebook reels. We had a full house as Ann Marie led an informative and interactive class. Thank you, Ann Marie, and thank you to everyone who was also present. Be sure to mark your calendars for our next Lunch & Learn, “Creating and Sustaining Customer Loyalty,” hosted by Kevin Hutchison on October 8 at noon at the Chamber Office. Register online at www.smithvilletx.org or call 512-237-2313 to confirm your attendance before September 7 if you wish to have lunch. Free for members. Cos is $15 for future members.

Chamber manager April Daniels is currently the chair of the Bastrop County Historic Tourism Task Force. We held our monthly meeting last week at McDade where we toured the McDade Museum and discussed new marketing materials we are creating in partnership with Bastrop County Historic Landmarks. We are excited to see these new resources become available to tourists interested in visiting Smithville and all of Bastrop County.

CALBRI Road & Bridge has always been a generous supporter of the community. We were so excited to witness his continued good works last week when he hosted a big book delivery at Smithville Elementary. Thank you Mayor Sharon Foerster and the CALBRI team for working to bring books to Smithville ISD to enrich the lives of our students.
