Tesla targets Northbrook, IL for next sales, service and delivery center

Tesla plans to open a sales, service and delivery center in Northbrook, Illinois. Last week, the new Tesla Center won the support of the Northbrook Village Board of Directors.

At a Sept. 13 meeting, the Northbrook Village Board discussed Tesla’s plan to build a new multi-purpose center at 1000 Skokie Blvd. Tesla is seeking zoning relief to build a one-story Tesla Center on 47,000 square feet of land.

The facility will have an open lot for sales and rooftop parking. According Chicago GrandstandTesla may also add a community electric charging station near the center.

The board seemed excited about Tesla’s potential center in Northbrook.

“I’m really charged to see this,” said administrator Robert P. Israel.

A few other administrators agreed with Israel, including administrator U. Ebhomielen and chairwoman Kathryn L. Ciesla.

“I’m very busy too. I think it’s great. I would love to have a Tesla, so I hope my husband is listening,” admin Ebhomielen said.

“I was super excited for the [pending] Starbucks in Waukegan and Shermer, this [Tesla] obviously blowing. We encourage you to move forward and we will do everything we can to make it successful,” President Ciesla said. “It’s my hope… that people will want to come to this Tesla dealership because it’s going to be so amazing.”

Tesla’s planned multipurpose center is entering the village review process. After the review, Tesla’s proposal for the center will be submitted to the Planning Commission.
