Real Madrid won’t give up on their dream of signing both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in the 2022 summer transfer window, a deal as difficult as it may have seemed over a year ago when the idea was first suggested.
But Los Blancos always had the advantage over both players. They’ve essentially secured Mbappe for free already, and with Haaland there’s a feeling he always had his sights set on Real when he agreed to a €75m release clause. upon signing with Borussia Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2020. Madrid looked like the likely next step in his career.
Of course, Madridistas can’t be too confident as Manchester City are very much in the running for the Norwegian superstar.
According to a report by Santi Aouna and Aurelien Leger-Moec of FootmercatoReal Madrid are more determined than ever to sign both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe this summer, with the Royal Whites seen as the Dortmund star’s favourites. This is juxtaposed with a report from a Manchester-based journalist who said the Citizens were favourites.
Eden Hazard’s salary just isn’t justifiable
We can split hairs on who is ahead or not. Everyone knows the appeal of the Santiago Bernabeu is on another level, but no one can argue with City’s money and recent success either, can they?
What’s more interesting is the aspect of the report stating that Real Madrid recognize the financial difficulties and are ready to sell players to accommodate the two massive salaries.
This includes the sale of Eden Hazard, who is believed to be among those Real are actively trying to move.
It makes 100% sense. Hazard earns over €20m a year, depending on which outlet you believe. Real Madrid can’t justify spending so much money on a veteran substitute who doesn’t really fit the team and is rarely healthy.
It’s better for everyone if the club and the player move this summer. Finding a destination will be difficult due to sanctions from Chelsea, and it forces Real Madrid to part ways with the current No.7 to make way for their next No.7 and No.9.
Mbappe is not the problem, but rather paying Haaland’s salaries and agent bonuses. Mino Raiola’s desire for a high commission could be what keeps Haaland away from Los Merengues and towards the Premier League champions.
And therefore, selling Hazard is of utmost importance. Luka Jovic and others could be sold, and Real will benefit from cutting the salaries of Isco, Marcelo and, most importantly, Gareth Bale as free agents.

Hazard is a prime target for sale, although the fans still love and support him. Financially, he is a liability for Los Blancos. Selling him would help Real secure Haaland or could even help them sign the midfield and right-back assist Madridistas need, in addition to superstar forwards.
