Liverpool have said the £70million star they want to sign is a ‘machine’ who is ‘built for PL’

Anton Ferdinand has claimed Liverpool transfer target Matthijs de Ligt is ‘built for the Premier League’ as he told talkSPORT.

The former Premier League defender added that de Ligt is a “machine” and a “fantastic” player for Juventus.

It has previously been suggested that Liverpool ‘dream’ of pairing de Ligt with Virgil Van Dijk at Anfield.

The Dutch duo stand side by side for their country, but it looks like if the Reds are to shell out the cash for the player, Juventus have been advised to sell him for no less than £70m.

Nonetheless, that’s what Ferdinand had to say about de Ligt and how fit he is for English football.

“De Ligt is fantastic,” said Ferdinand. “It’s a machine. The way it’s built, it’s a machine.

“He’s built for the Premier League. The way he looks and the way he plays.”

Going through the famed Ajax academy, de Ligt was already in the limelight, added by the fact that he was one of their top talents.

Plus, he was making a name for himself as a fresh-faced teenager, so at the age of 22, he’s still highly regarded and has years to go before he reaches the peak of his powers.

Nevertheless, whether at Liverpool or elsewhere, is the de Ligt Premier League linked, does it matter?

There has been talk of Chelsea needing centre-backs keen to add the player to their ranks.
