Kia dealerships invest in people with leadership development program

Kia UK has implemented a leadership development program designed to equip Kia dealership staff with specialist leadership and development skills.

With around 12 people in each program – run in association with Primeast – the program has proven “a huge success” across the network, Kia said, often with two classes running concurrently each year.

The training gives dealers insight into leadership best practices, the manufacturer said.

The program consists of ten workshops that cover practical management and leadership techniques covering all key areas of retail.

The program provides hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn management and leadership skills, which can be taken back to the dealership and put into practice, Kia said.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the course was delivered online, whereas previously it involved face-to-face learning.

Matt Delaney, Sales Manager at Ringways Kia Doncaster, said: “I am delighted to have received my award from the Institute of Leadership and Management Development Award.

“The course was hard work and managing the change to get it online and on Zoom was a challenge, which made all of us change the way we normally work.

“It got us thinking about a different way of working, but it was hugely rewarding, and I can’t wait to bring everything I learned to the showroom.”

The course has been in existence for eight years.

Kia recently revealed details of the new electrified Niro model range, which offers hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric drivetrain options.
