District says college football team athletic director and head coach Calvin Everett faces fraud charges

The Harrisburg School District released a statement after high school football coach Calvin Everett was charged with selling unlicensed cars over the internet. Statement from Harrisburg School District Superintendent, Mr. Eric Turman, Staff and Community, I am writing to inform you of the District’s internal investigation into a summary citation recently issued to our Athletic Director and Head College Football Coach, Mr. Calvin Everett.M. Everett received the summary citation in connection with his association with a local car sales group that faces fraud charges. Although the details of this case are confidential as it is a personal matter, we can share with you that a summary citation is the most minor type of offense/charge in Pennsylvania, and is often referred to as a “non-citation traffic-related. This most often results in a fine, which Mr. Everett has paid in full. In Pennsylvania, a summary offense does not prevent someone from being employed in public schools. After careful review of the summary citation by the district’s legal counsel and interviews with Mr. Everett, the Harrisburg School District concluded its investigation. that we maintain high professional standards for our staff and that each of our current and new employees must pass background checks. Everett will resume his athletic director duties on August 24, 2022 and his coaching duties on September 11, 2022. The football team’s interim coaching duties will be overseen by assistant coach, Mr. Shawn Lee.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Community of the Harrisburg School District,
I am writing to inform you of the District’s internal investigation into a summary citation recently issued to our Athletic Director and Head College Football Coach, Mr. Calvin Everett.

Mr. Everett received the summary citation in connection with his association with a local car sales group that faces fraud charges.

This most often results in a fine, which Mr. Everett has paid in full. In Pennsylvania, a summary offense does not prevent someone from being employed in public schools.

After careful review of the summary citation by the district’s legal counsel and interviews with Mr. Everett, the Harrisburg School District concluded its investigation.

We want to make it clear that we maintain high professional standards for our staff, and each of our current and new members of staff must pass background checks.
