Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United have been probed by agents for Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is a target for Leeds United.
According 90 minutesCrystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United have been offered the chance to secure the signature of Paris Saint-Germain striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, who is a target for Leeds United.
Kalimuendo has spent the last two seasons on loan at RC Lens and gained valuable experience while making a huge impression on several clubs across Europe. In 65 appearances for the French side, he scored 21 goals and set up six more.
French clubs have shown interest in signing him from PSG, but Leeds United have emerged as the 20-year-old striker’s strongest suitor. The Whites are looking for a new striker to cover and compete with Patrick Bamford, who struggled with injuries in the previous campaign.
Leeds United were thought to be closing in on signing Kalimuendo but the move has hit a snag as PSG manager Christophe Galtier was impressed with the youngster in pre-season and wants to watch him longer before sanctioning a sale.
Despite this, the centre-forward’s representatives have contacted several clubs in England to offer the 20-year-old. Indeed, according to the report, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United are among the teams who were lucky enough to sign Kalimuendo.
Crystal Palace may need a new striker as Christian Benteke is linked with a summer exit. With Odsonne Edouard and Jordan Ayew far from prolific, another goalscorer could bolster the Eagles’ attacking arsenal. Kalimuendo could thus become a viable target for Patrick Vieira’s team.
Everton are also looking for attacking reinforcements after losing Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur. The Toffees had made Armando Broja their main target, but the Chelsea ace is set to join West Ham United. So Frank Lampard’s side need to look at other options, and Kalimuendo could be the answer for Everton.
Newcastle United have been chasing Kalimuendo for a while now and may decide to step up their pursuit of the PSG star after missing out on Hugo Ekitike, who signed for the Parisian giants. Callum Wilson’s injury issues are well documented and Chris Wood isn’t exactly a prolific goalscorer. Eddie Howe’s offense can therefore use a boost in the form of Kalimuendo’s signature.
Leeds United have not dropped the pursuit despite the transfer being blocked. But with more clubs emerging in the race, only time will tell where Kalimuendo ends up this summer.
