Bayer Leverkusen’s Edozie could help Newcastle sign Diaby

Manchester City could be set to give Newcastle United a boost in their pursuit of Moussa Diaby.

The Magpies are looking to sign a winger this summer and have identified the Bayer Leverkusen star as one of their top targets.

The Echo of the North said that Newcastle have made further contact with the German side over Diaby, who is believed to be valued at £51 million.

It was recently claimed in Germany that Newcastle were ready to pay £34m for the 22-year-old, leaving them £17m less than Leverkusen’s asking price.

In the meantime, the Bundesliga outfit are trying to sign another winger.

Samuel Edozie on his way to Bayer Leverkusen

According to transfer expert Fabrizio RomanoManchester City wonderkid Samuel Edozie is heading to Germany.

He reports that a deal is almost done for the 19-year-old to join Leverkusen. He will sign a two-year contract, costing approximately £10 million.

This is a very good price for such a talented player. But he was unwilling to sign a new contract with Man City, effectively forcing them to sell this summer or lose him for free in 2023.

And it’s a deal that could help the Magpies.

Leverkusen may be more willing to sell Diaby

With Leverkusen signing a winger, they may be more open to selling Diaby. It would certainly make financial sense.

Swapping Diaby for Edozie would give them an exciting young talent that could grow up in Germany. It would also give them more money in the bank to invest in the rest of the team.

It all depends on Leverkusen’s priorities. They may just not want to sell any of their star players before they get into the Champions League. Or maybe Edozie is being signed to let Diaby go to Tyneside.

If that’s the case and we sign Diaby, we have to reserve a special thank you to Manchester City.

The Frenchman could be a transformative signing for Newcastle, and it would be a delight to see him in a black and white shirt.

This is just speculation, but let’s hope Edozie at Bayer Leverkusen helps us land Diaby.
