Barcelona won’t be able to sign the priority midfielder this summer

Barcelona have found themselves very busy with transfer negotiations over the sale of star forwards such as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Memphis Depay.

The Catalans are looking to sanction the exit of these two forwards in a desperate bid to generate enough time to help them land Jules Kounde by the end of the month.

It’s an indicator of Barca’s poor financial health which has effectively left him out of the hunt for other star players in the transfer market. And according to Guillem Balagueone of them is Bernardo Silva.

The respected BBC journalist suggests that Barcelona are no longer able to sign the influential playmaker as Manchester City are unwilling to offload the player.

The Premier League giants view Silva as a key part of their setup, despite the presence of other creative stars such as Kevin de Bruyne, Phil Foden and Jack Grealish. For the most part, however, Man City believe it is too late for them to offload Silva knowing they would have very little time to find a replacement.

Balague adds that Barcelona never really had any concrete talks with Manchester City over signing Bernardo Silva. The playmaker’s high valuation simply outweighs the club’s financial structure and as such, Silva won’t join the Catalans in this summer transfer window.

Missing out on the Portugal international could be a blow for Barcelona, who were looking to improve their ranks in the creative department. But it’s a revelation that comes as no surprise as the playmaker was widely regarded as one of the best in Europe.

Barcelona, however, won’t be giving up on Silva anytime soon and it won’t be a surprise to see them pursue the former AS Monaco starlet during the winter transfer window.
